Tradition Local is a community guide to food, neighborhoods, and events across Greater Houston. This policy explains what information we collect when you use traditionlocal.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email us at traditionlocal@gmail.com.
Information you give us
- Member accounts. When you create an account, we collect your first and last name, email address, and password. You can also choose to give us your phone number and an area of interest.
- Newsletters. When you subscribe, we collect your email address, your first name if you share it, and which newsletters you want to receive.
- Messages. If you email us or respond to an event, we keep what you send so we can reply.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting providers record basic technical details when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view. If you are signed in, our membership provider uses cookies to keep you signed in. We do not currently use advertising cookies or analytics tracking. If that changes, we will update this policy first.
How we use your information
- To run your member account and let you sign in, update your details, and reset your password.
- To send the newsletters you choose, along with occasional updates about events and member perks.
- To respond to your questions and requests.
- To understand what our readers care about, so we can cover the neighborhoods and topics you want.
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse.
We only call or text you if you ask us to. We never sell your personal information.
Tradition Realty Group
Tradition Local is part of the same family of companies as Tradition Realty Group, a residential real estate brokerage. If you tell us you are interested in buying, selling, or moving, or you ask about real estate, we may share your name and contact details with Tradition Realty Group so they can follow up with you. You can ask us not to share your information this way at any time.
Services we use
We rely on a few trusted companies to run the site. They only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Memberstack runs member accounts and sign in.
- Resend stores our newsletter list and sends our emails.
- Cloudflare securely passes newsletter signups to Resend.
- GitHub hosts the website.
- Google provides the fonts on our pages, and YouTube plays the videos we embed. These load from their servers, so they can see your IP address.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our readers or our business.
Your choices
- Emails. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can choose which newsletters you receive.
- Your account. You can update your details anytime from your account page.
- Access and deletion. Email us to see the information we have about you, correct it, or have it deleted. We will respond within 30 days.
How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account or subscription is active. If you delete your account or ask us to remove your information, we delete it unless we need to keep a record for legal reasons.
Children
Tradition Local is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
