Tasty and authentic Uyghur cuisine in Houston! My friends and I all had lunch here about 3 weeks ago. We were all warmly welcomed and were so excited to try many different dishes. One of my friends is of Uyghur background, so she happily introduced us to a few of the dishes. It was a lovely afternoon and our appetites were ready for some hearty food! To our disappointment, many of the items we wanted to try had already ran out. It was around mid afternoon on Saturday, when we all got together - but so many of the dishes were out! We at least got to try the handmade noodles with beef, broccoli with garlic, and lamb kebabs. The handmade noodles with strips of beef were my favorite. The noodles were tender and chewy, as was the beef. The dish was colorful and consisted of many bell peppers and onions. The broccoli was nice and simple and the lamb kebabs were okay. The kebabs, in my opinion were hard and chewy. I just had difficulty in eating them and some of the pieces were laced with fat. So, totally not my favorite. The tea was watered down and didn't taste quite right. This somewhat new restaurant has kinks to work out. I'd love to try the rice and bread dishes next time. I'd say to visit this restaurant early, in case anything runs out, as it did in our experience. Other than that, i'm looking forward in visiting again. The food was fresh and the service was appreciated. Uyghur cuisine is tasty and unique - not too salty nor too spicy. I definitely recommend this restaurant if in the China town - Bellaire area.
