Worth a Visit
“Yum! Such crispy and fresh beignets at this location of Chez B.”

Sara's full firsthand review

Yum! Such crispy and fresh beignets at this location of Chez B. I think I've become a fan of this stuffy yet busy location in China Town. On a Saturday night, my friends and I stepped inside and were startled with the liveliness of the cafe. Might have had something to do with Chinese New Year's, or maybe its always busy here. There was a lot of movement, laughter, and crowded tables. This is the complete opposite image of the location in Sugar Land. You see.. the Chez location in Sugar Land has some of the nastiest employees. I stopped visiting that particular location two years ago when they pushed my mother and I out the door (just because she didn't order anything). My mother had simply wanted to join my company as it was a quiet weekend night and I felt like I wanted to be out. To make a long story short.. that location in particular is not worth the visit. The employees are stiff and unfriendly. Maybe that's why its often empty inside. So back to my review on this location in China Town.. its far busier and livelier. My friends and I were lucky enough to find a small table to situate ourselves in. The beignets came quick and piping hot to the table. They were larger and crispier in size as well. Yum! What I love most about the beignets at Chez is that the dough is mixed with nutmeg. The dough is also perfectly fried and isn't too chewy in the middle such as Crescent City. The experience makes for a better tasting beignet in all. The hot chicory coffee is also nice and strong. The second refill of chicory coffee is on the house. I was satisfied with one serving and enjoyed it with the beignets. It was the perfect way to end a chilly Saturday night. Their are quite a few people I know that have never tasted a beignet. I like them better than doughnuts. I'll definitely be back and bring out of towners here.
