Sara's full firsthand review

I finally got to check out Crescent City over the summer! There used to be a location in SL back in the day, but was shut down years ago. My only concern is the long distance to get these sweet treats. Actually, I should be content that this location is far from me. Otherwise I would be splurging ever so often. Haha. My craving for beignets had been long overdue. There's just something about fluffy fried pillowy-goodness dough! Words cannot explain my love for beignets! I came here with a group of friends. The sweet fritters came promptly to our table with a huge dousing of powdered sugar. I would warn you all to not dive in right away! These pockets are burning with a bunch of steam inside of 'em. Give yourself a few minutes before munching on them. Seriously. My mouth almost burned when I excitedly decided to tear up one beignet. As far as the drinks go, the cafe au lait is a great addition along side a basket of beignets. The coffee was sweet and creamy. My friend ordered the hot chocolate drink and was upset to find it disgusting! I tried one sip and found it to be old and odd-tasting. We came here at night, they must have left the milk inside for too long. I don't know, but I wouldn't ever try ordering the hot chocolate after that incident. Nonetheless, its great to have a NOLA style cafe in Houston. I haven't tried their savoury items, but one thing is for sure, their beignets are delicious and what will keep me coming back for more.
