Epicure Café review

Epicure is a quaint little gem in the River Oaks neighborhood. I find myself coming here often these days. Upon entering you'll notice paintings all around the cafe. These are beautiful paintings done by local artists. I believe they are for sale since there is a price tag on each painting. The artwork really pops out the environment here. The display of colorful desserts are eye catching as well. What im most tempted to get here are the cakes. So far I've tried both of the chocolate cakes, pistachio cake, and the apple pie. All of the desserts have their own unique taste. What I like most about the desserts here is that they are not overly sweet. The cafe au lait and the caffe latte are nice to pair with the desserts. I have tried both coffees and they are nice and strong. As far as the tea goes, I definitely recommend the lemongrass tea. It has a refreshing taste. I wouldn't recommend the hot chocolate though. It was pretty mediocre and tasted like Swiss Miss. The prices are a bit steep here. One slice of cake and a hot chocolate cost $8.92. I cant say much about the savory food, but there are a variety of items on the menu. Think of sandwiches, soups and omelettes. The food sounds good, but i'm always tempted by the sweets. Overall, Epicure Bakery is a charming little place to visit if you're in the area.
