Les Givral's Sandwich & Cafe review

I'd been wanting to come here for sometime.. and I finally made it happen! Les Givrals is tucked in a cute little corner in midtown. I have been to a few of the cafes right across this restaurant.. but all this time I mainly had my eye on this gem. The quiet cafes that are in the same plaza as Les Givrals are just okay. Meaning the food and the ambiance were not that great. Les Givrals was quite busy and bustling on a Friday afternoon. I had errands to run, so I made a to-go order of their shrimp fried rice. The decision was a great one. The fried rice was savory, garlicky and aromatic. Probably the best fried rice I've eaten in a long time. The shrimp was generous, steamy and plump. I loved how the dish was garnished with fresh cilantro as well. The order took some time, but I didn't mind the wait. I ordered soft shrimp rolls while my order was being made. The soft shrimp rolls were nice and healthy. Juicy pieces of shrimp and tofu were tightly tucked into the roll and came with a traditional hoisin dipping sauce. Vietnamese food is definitely a favorite. I love how each dish is fresh and has its own appeal. I'm looking forward to trying the banh mi next time i'm here.. as well as the cafe su da (Vietnamese coffee) for a nice pick-me-up. Good service and a clean cafe with many tasty and authentic food options. Will definitely be back soon!
