Sara's full firsthand review
I like this market! It's a small specialty market displaying products specifically from Japan. Have visited a few times in the past. The market is always clean and provides just a few items. It's always spotless and doesn't smell too strong inside. The fresh produce is a hit or miss, for instance, the cilantro was limp and flat. Cherry tomatoes were fresh and bursting in color. There's quite a sticker shock to many of their shelf products! The prices have gone up as well with related exported items. Many of their salad dressings and other items are quite up in price. They have their special kewpie mayo and other Japanese products you may not find at regular grocery stores. Their fresh food section was minimum and bare, although I visited earlier in the afternoon. Not entirely sure if I would purchase fresh sushi from here anyway. Their packaged chocolate bourbon biscuits are great. Very chocolatey and crisp. I love picking up their savory rice cracker snacks as well, this time I opted for the wasabi rice cracker snacks. They've got plenty of iced coffee and tea cans/bottles that are ready made to drink. Some of the beverages have tapioca pearls in em. Others have coffee and no cream. My favorite being Sangaria: Royal milk tea. Still, nothing can beat a drink that's made fresh in house, but the Sangaria brand makes a clean drink with just a few ingredients. Not that sweet either, a simple pick me up. This plaza with Seiwa has several shoppes nearby. Quiet and unassuming little area of Houston. Tucked away in a corner. Check out this market and several other related international markets. Support local, as always.
What we tried
Sara tried the wasabi rice cracker snacks. Some parts worked well, while others kept the visit from feeling like a standout experience.
