Van Leeuwen Ice Cream – Montrose review

Loved this little sweet perk! This ice cream spot is bright and cheery, perfect on this sunny Saturday visit. I've been to V.L. before, and the establishment was just as nice and clean, well organized like last time. The lines were non existent, so Lou and I grabbed our ice cream and got to comfortably sit indoors inside the shoppe. The scooper was friendly and allowed us to try a few samples. Spoon samples were metal spoons that we got to throw into the used spoon section. Interesting. I love coffee so I just went for the coffee affogato flavor, as well as the dark chocolate brownie flavor. Out of the two, the affogato was creamier and a lot more lush. It was easier to eat and had a nice and light coffee flavor. The brownie ice cream was a bit on the drier side, but still had good, deep chocolatey flavor. I mixed the two a bit to get a better viscosity. Spoons are cute and well rounded, made of plastic. We also tried the Texas rodeo sundae and root beer soda, which Lou paid for. Flavors were great, sundae was dreamy and creamy. Crunchy with the praline pretzels and fluffy whipped cream. Overall we had a great time. It's sweet to be.
